I can see the blank look on your face…”Umm, Barb, I think you may have jumped off the pier.”
Bear with me 😉
I am a firm believer in the fact that God loves us so incredibly much that He delights in the small things. A butterfly fluttering past me when I feel a bit down. My outdoor plants actually living and producing tomatoes. And, supplying a bag of Fritos when in need.
I now if you’ve known me at all in my adult life, you know that I’m slightly obsessed with food, health and wellness. And, at this moment in time, once again I am attempting to make my main source of food plant-based.
Sooo, when I shopped last Monday evening (you know, that first BIG shop when the paycheck is fresh…) I was focused on healthy choices for myself, and the rest of the stuff the family needs. Toilet paper, etc. In the midst, while my son was picking out candy, I went and grabbed a bag of Fritos. After all the shopping, bagging, loading the car, an errand on the way home, then unpacking, I completely forgot about that bag of corny, greasy deliciousness.
Fast forward to Sunday (yesterday). The hubs and I had a weekend alone, and we had some time to discuss our struggles with Year Two of loss, which, much like 2020, sucks. After breakfast, we were making plans for the rest of the day, and I said, “Man, what I wouldn’t give for some Fritos today.”
About an hour later I went to our emergency pantry room (yeah, we’re THOSE people) to check on something, and what to my wondering eyes should appear…yes! My bag of Fritos! Hubs and I both got a little weepy over this seemingly small thing.
I’m not sure I’m telling this right, or it was one of those “you had to be there” moments. But, it was a pure “God handing me a blessing” moment, for sure. He does that…if you are looking for Him in all your moments.
Next time you see a bag of Fritos, think of the blessings that the Father wants to give you, beginning with the biggest, the blessing of eternity in Jesus, His Son. Then, smile and enjoy some.
