Prayer During the Hard Times

Posted on April 20, 2020

If you are grieving right now, especially in these “socially distant” times, prayer can be difficult. Grieving, by its very nature, is isolating.

Don’t allow this time of isolation drive you away from God. Please know, GOD hears your prayers; your lament. Even if it’s only, “Lord, help!”

Praying with people is so nurturing and healing. Of course, you can call someone or Zoom, but the very real experience of being WITH another person hold merits we are only beginning to understand.

In the early days after my daughter left us, I knew I had to stay connected. It wasn’t easy. All I wanted was for this to not be true, I wanted her back, I wanted so much of what I couldn’t. I HAD to trust and stand firm in Him. I would not have survived.

I listened to Scripture. You can find so many Bible readings on You Tube, on Audible, in some of the available Bible apps. I listened to Psalms, mostly. King David knew what lamenting was.

I also downloaded some free 30 day Scripture reading plans. Again, so many available online. I used many from The Holy Mess. Sara, who runs The Holy Mess website, has a new prayer resource, FREE. It’s an audio, guided prayer meditation. It’s beautiful, and it might help you to focus.

Getting fresh air and sunshine helped too. Something about the open air, the breeze, brings the soul to the nearness of God.

Beloved one, trust your shattered heart to the Only One Who can mend it.

In His Service,

Barb
